John McCain 2010
In June of 2009, Forty was first approached by the Friends of John McCain about developing an all-new Web presence for John McCain’s upcoming Senate campaign. We developed the overall strategy and approach for the site, and sketched prototype layouts for each of the key pages on the site. We sent the sketches over to our friends at OVO, the campaign’s branding agency, who designed the basic look of the site around the campaign identity they had established. We used this direction as a baseline for designing and developing the rest of the site.
Thanks also go to Sorenson Media for the robust video technology in the Supporters section (and for their long hours working on implementing it), and also to Dev-Fu for their excellent custom coding for the home page promo rotator.
The entire site was built in HTML 5, the next major revision of HTML, and implemented in the Expression Engine content management system.

Great work! Thanks for showing your process. I checked out the site and love how everything’s organized. It’s pretty easy to navigate through. I especially like the “issues” and “supporters” sections. One question though, what were all the yellow post-its for? What were you brainstorming?

awesome sketches. I like the drawing of John in the necktie. Do you think his new brand logo icon looks like a mummy wrapped in bacon?

@Stephanie We use post-it notes for our tasks. So that day was a day with a particularly huge number of tasks completed
